Update on Freak Athlete ABX
Because you asked for it
This is an impromptu email because I got a TON of questions on that new Freak Athlete ABX Adjustable Bench. Figured I could get some answers out there for ya instead of waiting 2 weeks for the next newsletter.
Development
This bench has been in development for 2 years. I’ve been talking with Freak Athlete and have seen early prototypes, provided feedback, you name it.
Benji and Yogi have been working on the development hands on in China, through multiple iterations, just like they did with the Hyper Pro, this time to try and build the ultimate adjustable bench (w/ attachments).
Collabs
When they first chatted with me about the bench, they had an idea for the back head rest to drop down for various exercises I ended up introducing them to Jay at Exponent Edge, who they ended up partnering with on that piece. I’m always happy when companies work together instead of just crush each other.
No More Pad Gap
The star of the show for this bench might just be the auto-adjust mechanism for the pad gap. Where other benches require manual adjustments, this simply adjusts automatically. Legit nothing needed besides adjusting the angle of the bench and seat like normal. This is from the teams own creative design, so they have a nice patent, or copywright, or whatever the correct term is. The legal thing.
JUST GIVE ME THE BENCH!
This is likely the final prototype before production, meaning that we are still missing some of the finer details. We’ll see improvements to the powder coat, thicker padding, aesthetic changes, and a few tweaks here and there. Stuff that is often skimped on when it gets sent to weirdos like me for testing.
My job, as usual, is to test and approve this for the big boys. I’ll be loading up the leg developer past the weight limit, benching 300+, curling, rowing, and doing weird stuff with it. My wife, Audrey, we’ll all tinker and provide feedback.
My Adjustable Bench showdown is slated for late September, and their launch is planned for early September. They do not have a price point yet, but they are looking to be the BEST adjustable bench that takes attachments on the market.
If you want to make sure you don’t miss the release of this bench, make sure to sign up for Freak Athlete’s newsletter.
If you have additional questions, fire away.
