Gray Matter Program Trial

I’m working on something a little different than normal. I'm running my own program for the first time in 2 years. It is heavily influenced by John Meadows and his Mountain Dog principles, but with my own spice. So it is heavily bodybuilder focused, but as the kids call it now-a-days probably a “Power Builder” program. Expect some strongman too.

Plan is to run this through into the next GGC and see how we do. And then maybe running a hybrid plan of this for everything but the final 8 weeks of prep on JuggernautAI.

If anyone is interested in taking a look, I want to make this a public program in the future after some refinement. Goal is to have a few versions but have it be VERY easy to adapt to your gym.

New Additions To The Lab

We’ve had a couple cool things come our way. First, I broke down and bought that WalMart Ski-Erg. The price had me pull a science experiment to see what we were looking at. I don’t have anything to share yet, outside of some heavy negatives.

The instructions might have been the worst instructions I’ve ever had. They were legit WRONG. So that was fun. I also have an extra dozen bolts, washers, and nuts, and I think what is concrete anchors that was never explained or even mentioned in the instructions. Plus they sent an extra piece of the back plate (at least I hope it is extra?). The branding also doesn’t match the company I bought it from, which means they are all being white labeled by one factory.

Almost guaranteed, once again, I’m going to send you over to my friends at Concept2 by the time I finish this review. Dealing with this stuff out of the box is absurd.

The ForceUSA Tandem Tower has arrived as well. I’ll have pictures and details in the next newsletter as it just got here. I’m planning a fun accessory piece for this as well from my dude at Plate Snacks.

I got an order confirmation for the new REP Leg Developer as well.

Whats New In The Community?

REP launched their leg developer, with mediocre community excitement. Gluck dropped a GoFundMe with a MASSIVE turn out. And Black Friday is still rolling strong.

Gluck Go Fund Me

Last time I mentioned Gluck getting sued by Vulcan Strength. Apparently it has escalated to the point where Vulcan is not dropping the suit, so they are headed to court. They are expecting the legal fees to approach the six figure level, so they started a GoFundMe.

We donated this weekend. My stance right now is, Gluck has to fight this for all of the home gym content creators to keep doing their thing. If he drops out, if this doesn’t end well, I may have to rethink how and what I do in this community. Even the GGC pokes fun at some bigger peeps on occasion, and my last several reviews have had some heavy negatives, even outright telling you not to buy equipment.

To keep reviews honest, and keep the community strong, I went ahead and donated. If you can do it, I think that would be great. But I also understand how tough times are right now, and the holidays with food and gifts and travel can make it even more difficult. So no sweat from my end. Just doing my part to share.

KaizenDIY

On Wednesday, Kyle’s account had a post claiming he had been performing some terrible acts. As of right now, there have been charges pressed and I believe Kyle has been arrested on charges of Sexual Assault with a minor. I want to state first that this is so new, that the information and details are not fully clear, and we should have more details as things roll out. The justice system appears to be doing its job. Fingers crossed that justice is served.

These things suck for a bunch of reasons. To those directly impacted, I honestly can’t even imagine. The range of emotions I felt on Wednesday while finding out, while thinking about it, while connecting with my friends in the industry, while writing this, covered the spectrum. So I can’t even imagine what they are going through. To the victims… As a father, as a human being, I am sorry this has happened, and I hope you get what you need to see the other side of this situation.

For the rest of us. These things suck because they ruin our faith in humanity. They make us trust each other less. And it puts a black mark on a community that should be focused on building each other up.

One Last Thing…

We ended the soccer season and had our team party a couple weeks ago. One of our parents made me and my other coach this FREAKING AWESOME poster. I’ve got it up in the gym.

I’ve said before, if you have the time, ability, and want to coach… I highly recommend it. It has made me a better person, better parent, and I am already planning and looking forward to the next season. And you have the opportunity to positively shape the next generation. If you don’t know where to start, YouTube is a HUGE help.

Basketball starts in January, and Flag Football starts in March. So we have a little break from now until then, which is a nice breather.
